Dream League Soccer 19 provides one of the most visceral and realistic soccer simulators available for mobile devices. While many sports games come packed with generic players and non-official rules sets, Dream League Soccer makes authenticity a top priority. They've earned the licensing rights to FIFPro, and that gives them access to a huge variety of licensed players. If you're a fan of the league, you'll find yourself immersed in an experience that looks and feels like the real thing. Six divisions and more than seven cup competitions based off of the real world are included with the core Dream League Soccer experience.

This game really excels by offering not just a field level view of the game but something that's significantly more top down. You aren't just lacing up the cleats of your favorite professional players. You're serving the role of general manager. That puts you in control of everything from scouting and recruiting talent to signing deals and determining the line-ups and formations for each game. From a managerial level, this is a deep simulation approach with some refreshing complexity involved.

Virtual managers will have a chance to really flex their creative muscles too. You can step into the shoes of an existing team, but you'll also have the chance to build your own franchise. Editing tools allow you to create your own logos, uniform, and kit, and there's even an option to create your own stadiums as well. It's not the most robust soccer customization tool we've ever seen, but it's certainly a revelation for a mobile game without the FIFA license or the financial backing of Electronics Arts.

Of course all of the number crunching and managerial oversight in the world wouldn't matter much if the experience of getting out on the field wasn't satisfying. Fortunately, the developer has put in place some pretty strong fundamentals here. The animation is exceptionally realistic and smooth for a mobile game, and there's an equally strong level of complexity in the moment to moment gameplay. A simple three button system relegates actions to passing, shooting, and centering, but context allows them to be combined together into some complex strategies that really replicate the feel of the game. It's a gameplay style where it's easy to jump right in but reveals some refreshingly deep layers once you start to learn the ins and outs.

The six divisions and seven cups provide you with a lot of single player content to dig through, but the developer has also taken some pretty respectable measures to keep players engaged. Season objectives give you a reason to test out new strategies and experiment with the game fundamentals, while regular events provide meaningful and intimidating post-game challenges. Dream League Soccer also comes with multiplayer leaderboards that allow you to track your progress alongside friends and strangers.
